Overview

SAFARI is a lovely, traditional, classic yacht that recaptures the style and elegance of the
grand old commuters with brass, chrome and elbow-deep varnished woodwork, a tumblehome
transom, all combined in a sleek fast package. The exquisite teak interior is a wonderful
example of understated elegance with it's raised panel doors and hand-fit ash hardwood
overheads, diamond tufted leather upholstery, and custom carved rolled arm settees in the
saloon, all of which combine to create a warm and rich feeling. She is a very comfortable two
stateroom / two head cruising vessel with a fully outfitted lower helm and an air conditioned
flybridge upper helm with hardtop and enclosure, top of the line equipment including updated
CAT 3196E engines, wide sidedecks for easy access, a large teak cockpit for entertaining and
a swim platform with ladder. The Owner reports that with her C. Raymond Hunt designed hull
form, long waterline length and relatively low center of gravity, she has a remarkably
comfortable ride, even in a seaway at speed. Originally built by Alden Yachts by an owner with
an "open checkbook", and little regard to cost. To reproduce her today would be in the 3 million
dollar plus range! This is one of the nicest Alden yachts available with possibly the nicest
interior joinery of any Alden yacht ever built.

Descriptions

Interior Accommodations and Deck Layout
SAFARI has a custom two stateroom layout with two full heads and showers. Galley is down with dinette.
Master Stateroom:
The master stateroom is forward and includes a centerline queen size bed,
leather upholstered settee, cedar hanging locker, overhead skylight/deck
hatch, and ample drawers. The master head is aft to starboard with a separate
shower opposite to port.
Guest Stateroom:
Aft and to starboard from the galley is a pantry area, and next aft is the
guest stateroom with twin lower berths, hanging locker, and drawers. Opposite
to port is the guest head with separate stall shower.

Lower Helm Station:
Up four stairs from the lower living area, is the lower helm station to port.
To starboard is a custom teak bar cabinet with glassware drawer, icemaker,
refrigerator. Just forward of the bar cabinet, built into the forward console,
is a retracting flat-screen television, VCR and DVD in themain saloon. The television has a KVH3 Satellite Receiver.
Salon:
Aft of the pilot area is the main saloon with matching custom-carved, leather
upholstered settees port and starboard. Between them is a custom teak table
with exquisite inlay work. This table can be adjusted for height, and can be
opened out to double its size for use as a large dining or cocktail table.
Built into the aft bulkhead on the starboard side is the entertainment center.
To port built in, is the amplifier.

Cockpit:
Centered in the aft bulkhead are double teak doors leading to the 80 sq. ft.
teak decked cockpit. The cockpit coaming is trimmed in high gloss teak. A
transom door allows for each access to the swim platform and the dock when in
port. Also from the cockpit a ladder leads up to the air conditioned flybridge
which has Isinglass on 3 sides. A large deck hatch in the cockpit raises up to
access a very large storage lazaret and for service access to the steering
gear, bilge pump exhaust hoses, trim tabs, storm anchor and line. There are
covers for the cockpit coaming and a new cover for the cockpit and dinghy.

Flybridge:
The flybridge is accessed from the cockpit by way of the teak and stainless
ladder offset to port. On the bridge deck there are port and starboard settees
with storage under, and a teak, drop leaf table between. forward at the helm
station, there are two teak backed helm chairs. Instruments are mounted into
the forward console, and there is an overhead pod which houses navigational
electronics. Both the lower and upper stations have full instrumentation
including radar and plotter screens. The flybridge is air conditioned, with
vents to port and starboard. Additionally, the flybridge is protected by a
custom fiberglass hardtop with four Bomar, opening hatches. There is an
Isinglass enclosure to the front and on both sides of the flybridge.

Galley
The galley is down to starboard and has white Corian countertops with a mirrored finish, nickel
plated stainless steel sink. Hardware is Czech & Momoplac and where ever possible,
appliances are hidden so as to maintain the feel of a classic yacht. To port is a beautifully
upholstered dining settee, U-shaped, wrapping around a custom teak
table with storage drawers for tableware. Above and outboard of the settee are
built-in cabinets, bookshelves, and an extra storage area for guest items.
Opposite to starboard is the L-shaped, white Corian topped galley counter with
all appliances built-in. There are teak, raised panel cabinets above and below, with matching teak facing on the refrigerator. An extra deep, stainless
steel sink is concealed beneath an inset Corian top.
