Overview

"Sea Tabby" has enjoyed remarkably good stewardship by her current owners of 28 years, and her previous long time owner. It's quite rare to find such an "in tact" Classic yacht as "Sea Tabby" that has not been molested by multiple owners. She is indeed a well maintained, well used, beautifully rebuilt vintage yacht that employs modern techniques in her robust, renewed hull structure. Take a step back in time aboard "Sea Tabby" with the security and knowledge that she is not a fragile antiquity, but rather a sturdy family cruiser that can be serviced on a typical boat yard Travel-Lift. Come see her and experience a bygone era of yachting.

Accommodations

The original walnut paneled salon features a dining table and 4 chairs and plenty of space for lounging and entertaining. On the starboard side is an original Trumpy leaded glass secretary/cabinet with drop down writing desk, and forward is the original Trumpy sideboard. There is a mounted porcelain lamp above the stairway to cabins, two leaded glass candle scones flanking the sliding aft deck door, along with original lighted sconces and shades

The spacious aft deck has a white settee and tables, and a wet bar with an ice maker. The deck may be fully enclosed with clear plastic weather curtains.

The master stateroom retains its original layout and furniture including twin mahogany berths with storage drawers underneath, side lockers, bureau between the bunks, mirror above, hanging locker and door to the en suite head. Beautifully detailed beam ceiling. Head includes, shower, granite vanity and Vacuflush head. Included are the brass barometer and clock and two framed prints.

The starboard guest stateroom original layout and furniture includes twin mahogany berths with storage drawers underneath, bureau between the bunks, mirror above, hanging locker and door to the en suite head. Included is the Nantucket map, quarterboard and half hull model.

The charming pine paneled port "Library" cabin is not original, however, it was probably installed in the early fifties by the previous long time owner. It has a single berth, with storage drawers underneath, writing desk with side chair, bookshelves with many books, some of which are included. There is a door to the head and granite lavatory and a hanging locker.

  • Flat screen TV
  • Stereo receiver and speakers
  • CD player
  • Central Vac system
  • Dual "Chiller unit" digital control Air Conditioning with 7 air handlers.

Galley
The galley has been nicely reconfigured. The original ash locker doors were moved and lockers rebuilt. Room was made for a full size stove, so that a more functional galley resulted. The galley includes: a 30" Frigidaire range with 4 propane burners cook top and 220v electric conventional/convection oven,(the flow of propane is controlled by a solenoid switch on the bulkhead); Magic Chef, under counter type refrigerator (2008), a Marvel under counter size freezer, both built in the port side with storage locker between. Formica counters have storage drawers and lockers underneath and a 24 inch stainless steel sink on the port side. There are original hanging fiddles for plates, dishes and glasses. There are two fold down shelves mounted on the bulkhead for additional workspace.

The crew area is just forward of the galley and includes two berths with storage lockers and storage shelving underneath and hanging lockers. The crew table has under-counter Lady Kenmore dryer (vented above to the main deck) and a under-counter Kenmore Elite refrigerator(2008). Starboard forward is installed a full size, front loading Whirlpool washer (2007). Forward is the crew head, with shower, sink and head.

Electrical

In 2003 the new wiring configuration was designed and installed to accommodate all the systems being installed at that time. Existing wiring was checked and replaced as needed. All electrics terminate in MARINETICS and BLUESEA breaker panels located on the galley/engine room wall.

The original house wiring of 32 volts was found to be in good condition and was maintained, for the benefits provided by a higher voltage system. This system is supported by a large bank of 4 large ROLLS deep cycle marine batteries that are stored in trays across the width of the lazzarette.

Four D marine 12v. batteries in boxes are stored in the engine room.

Deck/Hull

The foredeck area is shaded by an all weather canvas awning, as was the style on the earlier yachts. A comfortable mahogany bench with cushions spans the width of this area and is the perfect observation point when underway. Behind the weather screen are four mahogany locker/benches.

The wheelhouse is paneled and trimmed in mahogany. Included is the original wheel, binnacle and controls, radar/chart plotter display, VHF radio, backup GPS, depth finder display, chart table with light and stabilizer controls. On the bulkhead wall is a plaque given by John Trumpy, Jr. to the previous owner commemorating the year and place SEA TABBY was built. Also included is a registration plaque from the Thousand Islands Museum, antique clinometers.

Unique to Sea Tabby is the stairway to the boat deck located behind the starboard weather door, with hatch opening to the boat deck. Most Trumpy yachts have a vertical ladder to the boat deck, which is difficult to navigate.

Mechanical

GM Diesel 671 naturallly aspired engines, 225 hp. each Installed 1956 new, rebuilt several times. Current hours unknown. New meters in 2003, to replace failed ones, show approx. 1500 hours. Engines had a major service to include replacing injectors completed in 2003. Engines are quick starting and burn little oil. Engines are dry stacked.

Naiad Multisea II roll stabilization control system, engineered and installed by a Naiad specialist. The hull structure surrounding the location of the large fins was specifically engineered and built to accept the large fin components that effectively remove the unpleasant rolling, that this type of displacement hull is prone to. The computerized control panel is located in the wheel house. This modern high tech system, unseen to the observer, has been a major benefit for the enjoyment of this classic yacht.

The fuel tanks were replaced in 2003.

  • Many components of the mechanical systems were replaced in 2003
  • Four Dual Racor Filters for main engines and generators.
  • Groco- 12v – Oil transfer pump with manifold and connections to engine sumps for easy oil changes.
