The cockpit of the 2900 Open is large and roomy for truly comfortable cruising. Helm and companion back-to-back seating is standard - and optional curved companion lounge and an optional fold-away rear lounge is also available. The cockpit is also large enough to accommodate a full-sized fighting chair and necessary equipment. Below decks there is a large, airy cabin that features a dinette (convertible to 6'4" double berth), full galley, double forward berth, and private head. Power selections are twin inboards, gas or diesel.
Some commonly chosen Options include: Cruising Radar Antenna Arch / Swim Platform with built-in Ladder / Helm Wet Bar with Ice Maker, or Helm Bait and Tackle Center with Livewell / Curved Companion Seat / Generator / Honey Ash Interior / Air-Conditioning / Teak and Holly Cabin Sole.
The cockpit of the 2900 Open can be configured for cruising, fishing, or both - with a couple of different seating options available. The standard layout features a companion back-to-back seat with locker to port, and a fiberglass navigation/chart area and drink holders. An optional curved companion seat with storage is also available. The helm sits starboard. The “Heads up” tilt away helm is consistent with other Tiaras and has plenty of room for flush mounted electronics. The standard helm seat is a back-to-back arrangement but can also be outfitted with either a wet bar/ice maker combination or bait/tackle center. The aft cockpit is spacious and features padded coaming bolsters, flush floor storage boxes which can be equipped with a macerator, and a molded-in transom door.
The cabin on the 2900 Open is a comfortable living quarters. A double berth with storage below, settee with storage compartment, and hanging locker lays forward. The dinette/lounge is just aft of the forward berth to the starboard, and is convertible to an additional double berth. The galley is on the port side and features a molded fiberglass countertop, molded-in sink with pressure water system, one burner electric cooktop, microwave oven, plenty of storage, and refrigerator/freezer. The full fiberglass head is just aft of the galley and has a electric head with 20 gallon holding tank. Optional cabin features include air conditioning, honey ash veneer interior, and a solid, tongue and groove teak and holly cabin sole.
The electrical system on the 2900 Open features a custom 12V and 120V master distribution panel with Plexiglas door, amp meter, reverse polarity indicator, one 30 amp 50' shore power cord with adapter, a two bank 12V battery system with gel cell batteries, and battery charger.
An array of safety equipment is standard including: Cockpit lighting, automatic bilge pumps, hand-held fire extinguishers, Coast Guard safety and medical kit. Certification from the NMMA, U.S.C.G., and CE (European.)
The 2900 Open is powered by twin Crusader 5.7 HO MPI which produce 320 HP, or you can opt for twin Crusader 7.4 L engines which produce 370 HP. The hydraulic steering system is provided by Teleflex with an 18" S.S. destroyer wheel. Other great features include: high speed axe head rudders and struts, two Nibral propellers, Zincs on the transom and shafts, a hydraulic engine hatch lifter, and VDO engine instrumentation.
The 2900 Open is constructed with a water barrier outer gelcoat layer and handlaid fiberglass with a special formulated resin. The stringers are marine grade plywood and encapsulated in handlaid fiberglass and integrated into the hull. This process creates a solid backbone which makes the 2900 Open ride like a much larger boat than it is. Seacocks and all underwater thru-hull fittings are made of bronze, and a hullside exhaust system is used. The 2900 has four custom oval opening port lights with screens for great ventilation and natural light while below deck. Like Tiaras of larger stature, the 2900 features a hullside ventilation system, and gelcoated boot line graphics.
The 2900 Open deck also has a transferable 5 year limited warranty, and construction is similar to the hull - using a water barrier outer gelcoat and handlaid fiberglass. Tiara’s custom diamond pattern non-skid is used on all deck and cockpit surfaces for sure, safe footing. The custom windshield is made of welded aluminum and Solex 1/4" safety glass, and handrails, and a center hinged ventilating section make this windshield one of the safest, strongest, and best- built windshields in the industry. Access to the foredeck is easy with grab rails and a sturdy one-piece welded bow rail. Other deck features of the include an aluminum deck hatch with screen and privacy cover, flush forward anchor locker with overboard drain, and a fiberglass molded-in bow pulpit with optional S.S. roller assembly.
