"Vixen II" is an Annapolis Yacht launched in 1948, construction completed by John Trumpy and Sons after their move to Annapolis from New Jersey in 1947. Originally "Hurricane III" she is one of a few surviving Annapolis Yachts. Built on a double planked mahogany on oak frames with soft chines, "Vixen II" is powered by twin J&T 6-71 diesels, 310 HP installed in the 1970's, 3200 hours total time. "Vixen II" sleeps 6 owners and guests in 3 charming staterooms aft, 2 heads aft both with stall showers, plus a crew stateroom and head forward. She has a galley down forward with dinette. Saloon is equipped with an "L" shaped settee, 2 chairs, beautiful mahogany cabinetry, Air conditioning and separate electric heat. Topside, the enclosed pilothouse opens to a spacious teak aft deck with full hardtop, and then a few steps down aft to the teak cockpit deck.

Accommodations and Layout
Three double staterooms aft. Owners stateroom has twin berths outboard, separate head & stall shower. Port & starboard guest staterooms next forward, each w/upper & lower berths; guest head w/shower. Three steps up to main salon w/L-shaped settee to starboard, 2 chairs to port, dry bar aft to port w/ice maker (new '89). 4 Kearfott roll-down windows w/bronze hardware. RCA 13" color TV w/remote; Hitachi VCR; 12VDC Kenwood 10 CD changer w/AM/FM stereo; 2 speakers in salon, 2 Kenwood speakers in wheelhouse, 2 Bose speaker aft deck. Three steps down to galley/dinette. Single guest/crew stateroom forward w/head & sink. All toilets are Raritan Crown Macerator type. Aft toilets fitted w/Raritan Lectrasan approved Type 1 MSD's. Full Cruis-Air reverse cycle air conditioning throughout.

Galley is equipped with a 3-burner 120V AC Princess stove w/oven, Sharp microwave, refrigerator.

Datamarine Dart digital combination unit displays depth/speed/log/seawater temperature; Kenwood 307 VHF & Sitex 950 VHF radios; Ray Jefferson 514 flashing depth indicator; Goldstar 924 24-mile radar; Raytheon 520 Loran; Robertson AP 20DL autopilot; Apelco 1000 hailer; 6" compass. All electronics new at one time in 1990. Additionally, she comes with a laptop computer with Maptech Nav software installed.

Onan 8KW generator FWC w/hush box (installed new 1987); 8 batteries; battery charger; 120V AC, l2VDC & 32VDC service; single 50A inlet w/cord. 12V starting battery; two D-4 12V engine starting batteries; four 8V batteries for 32V house system; 12V & 32V chargers. 32VDC-120V AC inverter (will power refrigerator & one duplex outlet. Back-up l2V battery in wheelhouse for electronics. Guest LED systems monitor; two 12V alternators & one 32V alternator (port). Separate 32VDC & 120V AC duplex outlets throughout. Deck/Hull/Mechanical
Deck Layout: Forward deck seat. Salon front windshield and wheelhouse windshield have curved plexiglass corners (original design). Windshield washer & wipers; walk around teak decks; wind doors to aft deck at wheelhouse; anchor pulpit w/ldeal ACW vertical drum chain-rope windlass with 200' +or- chain; 22 lb. & 35 lb. Danforth anchors (35 lb. chocked on deck); fresh & salt water washdowns. Varnished mahogany handrails around all waIkillg areas w/opening gates. Bow rail tapers down and inboard on foredeck. Aft deck has period wicker furniture including sofa, 2 chairs and ottoman all w/teal & white striped cushions. Down aft one step to lazarette deck w/chrome plated hatch cover access to lazarette on centerline. Transom steps down to teak swim platform.
Atop wheelhouse & hardtop: 12' Avon rigid bottom w/3.3HP Mercury outboard. Dinghy davit w/up-down winch; fore & aft floodlights; curved fore & aft flagstaffs (at deck level); Signal mast (all original equipment); single searchlight.

MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT & ENGINE DETAILS:
Twin J & T 310HP 6- 71N's installed new in 1977; approx. 3200 hrs. TwinDisc 506 2:1 reduction gears; 26" x 24" 4-blade props (new 1999) on 1 3/4" S/S shafts. Spurs cutters installed 1998. Racor fuel filters.
At 1750 RPM's she cruises 12 knots and burns 13 gallons per hour.

Other Features
Wheelhouse has 360 degree visibility; opening center windshield section; overhead ventilating hatch; sliding window glass to aft deck; teak sole, bright bulkheads; white inside windshield.
6" Wilfrid O. White compass in chrome binnacle w/5 degree card. Control include Morse double lever throttles/clutches; electric & manual engine shutdowns; full compliment of engine gauges, plus oil temperature gauges for main engines & generator. 3/4 extended hardtop w/full Isinglass enclosure. Center pedestal helm seat & high portside settee w/separate Cruis-Air air conditioning unit and drawers under.

Construction & Finishes: Double planked Honduras mahogany on steam-bent oak frames, Everdur-fastened; 1 1/2" thick laid teak decks. Recently repainted w/Sterling & handrails re-varnished. Bottom paint green Interlux 559 w/black bootstripe. Interior is high gloss varnish in salon and dressers in all staterooms; off-white semi-gloss in aft passageway, all three staterooms, galley and V-berth. Hanging lockers are cedar lined.

REMARKS:
This is a truly unique vessel. Designed by Chris Nelson, the boat was actually built by Trumpy Yachts after John Trumpy purchased Annapolis Yacht Yard. At the time of purchase, there were seven Annapolis cruisers on the ways and, as far as we know, she is the only surviving yacht. Originally built for Dr. Allen Dumont, the inventor of the television, it was the first privately owned vessel in the United States to have a TV. Dr. Dumont was an avid log racer (GPS has since done away with the concept) for which the boat holds several records. Cover and article in RUDDER magazine Nov. 1958
