Overview
~ NEW LISTING 6/25/2022 ~ SERIOUS SELLER ! ~This is Hull # 557
With over 1,500 delivered, the iconic Grand Banks 42 remains
the most successful trawler design ever produced. Introduced
in 1966, the original mahogany construction gave way to
fiberglass in late 1973. The GB 42's semi-displacement hull, with
its long keel, hard chines and a deep forefoot, provides a level of
stability and comfort seldom matched by other boats. Several full
teak interiors were offered during in the 42 Classic, all with the galley
in the salon and most with port and starboard deck doors.
Surrounded by large cabin windows, visibility from the lower helm is
excellent in all directions. A dinghy can be stored on the cabin top,
and there's plenty of flybridge seating aft of the helm. Additional
features include teak decks, fold-down mast and boom, and a small
aft cockpit for line handling. On the downside, the engine room is
a little tight. A wide range of engine options was available over the
years, with the enduring 6 cylinder Ford/Lehman 120 HP being the
standard in the earlier builds.
